Regulations and standards
Construction products used in Europe must comply with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 305/2011, ensuring the safety of both structures and users.
In most cases, this requires compliance with harmonized European standards (EN standards).
For non-preloaded structural bolting assemblies, the applicable standard is:
- EN 15048-1
Compared to standard fasteners such as:
- ISO 4014 / ISO 4017 (formerly DIN 931 / DIN 933)
- ISO 4032 (formerly DIN 934)
fasteners according to EN 15048-1 are marked with:
- “SB” (Structural Bolting) on the head
- CE marking on the packaging
Manufacturers must hold CE certification to produce fasteners compliant with EN 15048-1.
Bolts and nuts are supplied together as a set, typically in sealed packaging.
