The welded wire reinforcing meshes constituting the sides of the gabion can be fastened to one and another with the help of wire spirals or clips. In order to prevent the formation of humps after filling (in other words, we want to avoid the gabion "growing a stomach"), the reinforcing meshes facing each other have to be bound together. In the case of a bigger gabion cage, a type of reinforcing mesh called diaphragm, parallel to the shorter sides, may as well be needed. The distance between diaphragms may vary between 80 and 150 cm. The gabion spirals bind together the meshes constituting the sides of the gabions, the whole supporting wall thus makes a uniform structure. The interior binding hooks are placed in 20-30 cm rasters.
Normally, the Steelvent 2000 gabion systems are composed of gabion cages 2.50 m in length and 1.00 m in height, their thickness varying in function of the environment:
On demand, the grids can be cut in sizes different from the above! To obtain durable and aesthetic results, the Steelvent 2000 gabion grids are additionally hot-dip galvanized (after welding).
